The day after the previous post's Khoo Kongsi dinner was another Khoo Kongsi dinner, this time for a different branch of the Khoo Kongsi. This time the dinner was held at the Penang Ballroom of the Copthorne Orchid Hotel in Tanjung Bungah, Penang. Again, it was a traditional 8-course Chinese dinner.

Back in December of last year, we were invited to a Khoo Kongsi dinner at the Jade Palace Seafood Restaurant located in some plaza along Abu Siti Lane in Penang. It was your usual Chinese course dinner with about 8 courses in total if I remember correctly.

I went to try out this German restaurant located in the newly-opened Straits Quay at the beginning of this year. The food is pretty good, there is a good range of sausages to choose from, the menu is quite big too!

I used to buy drinks from Boost when I was in London last year. Now, a branch has recently opened up in Gurney Plaza, and it's located in Basement 1 opposite the Big Apple Donut place. Price-wise, it's a little expensive, but once in awhile, it's ok.

After the Black Pepper Spicy Chicken McDeluxe promotion ended, McDonald's Malaysia came up with a new promotional burger. This time it's called McChicken Supreme. A new Shaker Fries flavour came out as well, and it's the BBQ McShaker Fries. This is probably my least favourite among all the promotional McDonald's burgers that came out so far this year.

The special thing about this burger is an extra smoked chicken slice and a slice of tomato.

I came to this restaurant with my family and granduncle for my birthday lunch. It was my first time there, and the food was pretty good. Serves Western food, like pastas, steaks, soups, fish, etc. My granduncle brought us here, and it's located at a sort of new commercial area after the Vale of Tempe road. The price is reasonable as well.

This was McDonald's promotional burger after the Triple Cheeseburger, and I believe it was on sale on McD's menus from 8th October until sometime this month. I took this on the 1st day it came out, which was the 8th. It's pretty nice, and I think it's the best of the promotional burgers from McD so far, apart from the GCB. It's now been replaced with the McChicken Supreme. The Cheese McShaker Fries that were sold alongside the Triple Cheeseburger was replaced by the Spicy McShaker Fries when this Black Pepper Spicy Chicken McDeluxe was sold.

Finally after a long wait, a Burger King (BK) outlet opened in Penang. However, this is the only BK outlet in Penang for now, and it's located in a pretty odd area. It's off the Jelutong Expressway (JE), around the Sungai Pinang area. Located along Lebuh Sungai Pinang 5. I went the other day on the first day of the opening, and that was last Thursday.

If you are coming on the JE from town, take the Jalan Sungai Pinang exit, turn left at the first junction, go all the way straight to the end until a T-junction, then turn left. BK will be down the road on the left.
If you're coming from the Tesco direction, take the same Jalan Sungai Pinang exit, then at the first junction turn right. After that it will be the same as above.
If you come from Jalan Sungai Pinang, do not turn right/left to JE. Instead, just go straight till the T-junction. Turn left, go down the road, BK is on the left.

I used to go here with my parents for dinner once in awhile, whenever I'm in that area. The food's good, it famous for the seafood porridge or noodles, toasted bread with butter and sugar, satay and baked salted chicken at night. I've tried out the Dragon-i in Queensbay before, and the Dragon-i in Gurney recently opened, so I decided to try it out. The first time I went was actually last Friday, 3rd Sept with my family. I didn't take any photos then, but luckily the second time I went was last Saturday, 4th Sept. I went there with a group of friends after watching the Piranha movie. I ordered the exact same dishes on the two times I was there. It is located on the ground floor of Gurney Plaza's New Wing, opposite Charles and Keith.

Some peanuts in gravy to start. This is actually pretty good.

Daorae is a Korean restaurant chain that has outlets in Malaysia. There are two in Penang, as far as I know. One is in Bayan Baru and the other one is along Tanjung Tokong Road, somewhere near Island Plaza there. It is next to Petronas. And since I couldn't find Daorae on Google Maps, I have put Petronas Tanjung Tokong as the point to go when searching for directions. The food here is good, I think one of the better Korean restaurants in Penang.

Last Saturday, me and my family went out for dinner, since there was no dinner at home. We decided to try out Chicago Rib House in Gurney Plaza, and we did. The wait for the table was a little long, but eventually we got a table. this restaurant is located where Manila Place used to be, in the alfresco area of Gurney Plaza, between Gelatissimo and Dome. The price of food here is quite similar to Chili's, but cheaper a little.

Well, I flew Singapore Airlines on my current trip to England. It was the night flight, so they served up supper and breakfast. Supper was served about 1 hour into the flight and breakfast was served about 3 hours before the flight landed.

This restaurant is the other restaurant located in Hotel Michael. Well, it's suppose to be fine dining, but I can see people walking in with shorts and slippers. How fine dining is that? Secondly, the waitress is rude, telling me I couldn't take photos inside the restaurant. But it didn't say outside of the restaurant that I couldn't take photos. And third, the food was so-so only, I've tasted better from places that are much cheaper. Had food at this restaurant for dinner the second night of our trip last March.

This restaurant is located in an area in SS20 Petaling Jaya called Paramount Garden. My uncle (not the one who married) brought me, my parents and some other relatives here for dinner that same day after the church wedding in the morning. It is apparently run by a fellow Penangnite who moved to KL. I must say, the food is good, the cleanliness is good, and the ambience is not bad! It is located at a corner lot with a lorong next to it. Opposite this restaurant is Giant and we parked there.

I don't think it's that good, there are places in Penang with better wan tan mee than this place.

This is the restaurant we had dinner at the next night after dining at Flying Chillies. It is located opposite Flying Chillies, with both restaurants located on the 3rd floor of The Gardens Mall. The restaurant is usually full, and we need to wait for awhile before getting a table. We waited for about 20 minutes for a table when we came here.

The Pizza Company is a Thailand-based fast food pizza chain. It was established 9 years ago by the company who used to own the Pizza Hut franchise in Thailand, but decided to open The Pizza Company after the deal ended. I tried the food here at The Pizza Company's branch in Central Airport Plaza in Chiang Mai.

I actually forgot the name of this restaurant we went to in Chiang Mai. We were hungry after a whole morning at the temple, so we asked our driver to bring us to a restaurant serving good Thai food. All I know is that the restaurant is surrounded by trees, the furniture is made out of wood and the atmosphere was calm and cooling! Enjoy the photos of the food for now.

This is a nice little cafe located on Level 3 of the main terminal at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. As me and my parents rarely go to Thailand, this is our second time to this cafe, the first being in April 2008 when we were there for a casting ceremony. Our family friend brought us here on both times and we decided to have our lunch here before flying off to Chiangmai.

LOL. I don't remember all the names of all of the drinks we ordered, but it some sort of smoothie, except for the second last drink, which is Thai tea, I believe.

Well, during the 2 days and 1 night that we were in Bangkok last October, we didn't venture out into the streets to look for food, simply because there wasn't much time and we were rushing here and there probably every minute. As we arrived in Bangkok, we visited a monk first at a temple by the waters somewhere in the suburbs of Bangkok, then we went to our hotel to have lunch. At night, because we were tired to go out and look for food (plus it was around 9.30pm BKK time), we had dinner at this same cafe. The next morning, before flying to Chiangmai, we had our complimentary breakfast at this cafe too. It is located in the lobby of the Sofitel Centara Grand Bangkok.

Ah Lim is our household electrician. He is also the operator of the Ah Lim 'Lam Mee' stall on Macalister Road. 'Lam Mee' or also called Birthday Noodles is more commonly eaten during birthdays by the Chinese people. One of the days in November 2009, me and my mum decided to try out how the 'Lam Mee' tasted like. It was pretty good surprisingly!

Back in October of 2009, me and my parents together with a couple of family friends went on a trip to Thailand. We flew to Bangkok (BKK) with Thai Airways for one night and the following day, we left BKK for Chiangmai(CMI), also on a Thai Airways flight. With both flights being over an hour long, the one from Penang(PNG) to BKK being about 1 1/2hours and the BKK to CMI flight being about one hour, we were served some snacks on the plane.

On the PNG to BKK flight, we were served sandwiches, fruits, juice and water. Coffee/tea is optional.

We were served this on the BKK to CMI flight. Juice and a curry puff. No idea what's the thing in the packet.

Every year, for about 1 to 2 months before Chinese New Year until about a month or so after Chinese New Year, there will be a special burger at McDonalds. I'm not sure about Malaysia's neigbouring countries, but I know the whole of Malaysia has this. It's called Prosperity Burger and it's beef (chicken normally comes in at a later date) dipped in black pepper sauce, topped with onions (green pepper for the chicken version) and sandwiched between two buns. I love it! It's one of my favourite McDonalds burgers and I had my first one last Saturday.

The other day I had a craving for nasi kandar, a type of Mamak food. Basically, nasi kandar is usually white rice, sometimes tomato rice or briyani rice, and you can choose a wide selection of dishes and curries to go with it. It's nice and I like it.

Because I'm a member of Haagen-Dazs in Malaysia, I get some sort of special promotion during my birthday month. This year, I got 20% off the bill, whether it's dine-in or take-away. I decided to buy an ice-cream cake to eat as I haven't tasted an ice-cream cake before. I bought one with the Mango Passionfruit ice-cream flavour on the inside and a chocolate coating with some fruits as a garnish on the outside. I took it home and shared the cake among me, my parents and my maids. It was delicious!

On the first night in KL, which was the 17th, I believe, we went to visit some relatives. After that, we decided to visit Souled Out in Mont Kiara, Desa Sri Hartamas for dinner. It's a pretty nice place with a lively atmosphere. There is always people there and it's never empty. I like the food there, it is good.I guess this is one of the nicest places in KL to have dinner and I should figure out that it's a great place to hold a party. Last Friday, I went to Gurney Plaza at night to get a case for my new iPhone. While I was there, I decided to have dinner at Kim Gary. I didn't order much, only the set mentioned in the title, which is an Unagi Stone Grill Rice Set.

It comes with a drink, I picked Iced Honey Lemon.

It also comes with a choice of either Borscht Soup or Cream Soup. I picked Borscht.

And finally, the Unagi Stone Grill, it comes with the a piece of unagi, some rice, kimchi, enoki mushrooms, beans and an egg.

These two dishes was what me and my mum ordered for breakfast last Thursday. Went to our usual spot (not every breakfast time though, but we do go there often) for breakfast which is One Corner Cafe located behind Giant on Burmah Road.

I like Lor Mee. It's one of my favourite local dishes. There are some kopitiams out there which serves good Lor Mee. But the Lor Mee you see in the photo below is homemade. My mum made it for lunch and dinner more than a week ago.

This is another trip to Northam Beach Cafe. Same drinks, but different kinds of food this time. Went with my parents two Thursdays ago.
